Breakfast Run, Leopard Lodge, Magaliesberg.

On the 26th June 2015, 27 gleaming Porsches with their drivers and passengers, 47 in all, gathered at a coffee shop somewhere in Broadacres Shopping Centre. Precisely at 08h00, because Brian Viljoen was leading the convoy, the vehicles headed out to Leopard Lodge, situated high in the Magalies Mountain Range, near to Hartebeespoort Dam.

Fortunately, being a long weekend, the rest of the road users were forced to watch Porsche after Porsche passing them on the winding road leading to our destination.

The arrival at the Lodge for the newcomers to this venue, had them gasping at the magnificent view that this lodge offered.

Breakfast was a buffet, and enjoyed by all on the tables set out on the lawns giving us an unspoilt view of the dam and the mountains in the area. In the distance we heard the bark of a male baboon, were we invading his territory? Meanwhile, the resident Cape Vultures circled above us eying anyone who did not move in this tranquil setting.

All too soon, the breakfast was over and the sound of the tranquility was shattered by the roar of the engines of the Porsches as we headed home.

Thank you Leopard Lodge for hosting us, and using the words of some famous actor, we too say “WE WILL BE BACK”
